Saw Dust and Boards = Home Project 1

The boards waited patiently, leaning up against the ottoman like a group of teens hanging out on the corner(see photo on sidebar). My toys (tools of the trade)lay idle. But the rampage had begun, as the sawdust pile on the carpet could attest. After nearly 10 years, it's good to grip the handle of my trusty saw again, good to hear the sound of it ripping through the wood and to smell the scent of wood shavings. My first project: a small storage unit for the equally small bathroom at the end of the hall. The boards were cut and ready to assemble. And now...I've finally finished building the storage unit and I've got to say I'm pleased with the results so far. Next, will be to paint and decorate it, but I just had to try it out last night. Finishing this first project has given me the incentive to move on to the next one. Just not sure which one I want to tackle next!

Where this burst of creative energy came from I've no idea. Nor do I care to know. It's really not important. Whether the stars are in a particular alignment, or the moon is in my house of creativity, matters little to me. What is important is that I am having this burst of creativity. Ideas flood my mind from every direction, ideas for painting, writing, photographing, building. It's all I can do to make myself go to work in the mornings. I'd much rather stay home and give myself completely over to this wonderful madness. Perhaps one day I'll get the courage to do just that, eh? Meanwhile, I'll just keep tumbling along toward the next project.

On a Rampage

Greetings! Welcome to Creative Rampage. I've been trying for a couple months to get this blog going, but getting bogged down in the details of how I want it to work. That and trying to keep up with all the wonderful new tools and widgets that Blogger has been giving us...most of which I still have no clue how to use! But that's me, and although I haven't figured out some things, I decided to just start posting while I'm working out the photography part.

Creative Rampage is for all the creative crafts-people out there...the artists, wood-crafters, and other do-it-yourselfers. My goal is to inspire and encourage you go on your own creative rampage, to take your ideas and turn them into finished projects that can enhance your world. I'll be sharing some of the projects I'm working on for my own home.

So, what is a creative rampage? It starts as a mental surge of creativity where ideas suddenly start exploding and tumbling all over the place like rocks down a mountainside. One great project idea sets off another, and then another, and another until you have an avalanche of ideas for new projects. It can get a bit crazy at times. I'm not sure which is worse, having no ideas or too many!

The creative process cycles for most people, with phases of high-creativity followed by phases of low creativity--or dry spells, we call them. Lately I've been in a state of hyper-creativity where I'm practically bouncing off the walls with ideas for projects. Rather than suppress them, I decided to go on an all out rampage--a creative rampage--and do as many of these projects as I can until the creative steam runs out. And, I'm inviting You to join me...so, come on!
